ABOUTHi, I'm Jennifer, a freelance proofreader and copy editor currently based in Bristol, UK.
I've always been a perfectionist when it comes to spelling, punctuation and grammar; I love spotting grammatical errors and am always on the lookout for typos. For this reason, and because the work can be carried out anywhere in the world, I decided to take my interest one step further and train as a proofreader. I graduated from the College of Media and Publishing with a level 4 diploma (distinction) in proofreading and copy editing and have now set up my own business––JG Proofreading. Thanks for taking a look! Proofreading and copy editing are incredibly important final steps in the writing process. Even in 2021, these steps cannot be completed by technology alone, so that's where I come in. My job involves thoroughly reading text to correct errors and enhance quality. Even the smallest mistake can affect the way the work is viewed, so it's always worth having it checked. In my other life, I'm a freelance events manager, mainly working in the mass-participation sports industry. Away from the desk, I love to get outside and explore: I'm a keen runner with a few marathons under my belt and an aspiring bikepacker. I also enjoy baking, reading, attempting cryptic crosswords, learning new skills (I learnt how to juggle and complete a Rubik's cube in lockdown!) and travelling. |
